MBREDC Hosts Annual Meeting

The MBREDC held its 2022 Annual Meeting on January 19, 2023, at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. It was a year of record breaking for the MBREDC. Over 200 members along with elected officials were in attendance to hear about the successes of 2022 and to look forward to the future of 2023.

MBREDC President and CEO, Sandy Davis, gave a recap of the past year which included seven announcements of expansion and recruitment of industry in Horry County totaling more than $124 million in capital investment and creating 268 new jobs. Supporting existing industry continues to be at the forefront of the EDC’s goals with visits, support, resources, and the creation of the new Industry Awareness course designed to promote an awareness of local industries. The MBREDC also exceeded its goal in private membership monies for the year.

Mrs. Davis also shared the plans for the construction of spec buildings in two industrial parks; Ascott Valley and Water Tower Road. This allows the EDC to have tremendous recruiting power nationally.

It is through the continued support of our partners that we are able to accomplish our goals and make Horry County the place we all want to call home.

bFIVE40 Announces Adding State of the Art 3-D Knitting Technology

3D Knitting is the future of textile technology- a simple knitting process where design and materials are seamlessly knit together to create parts faster and with less waste. This high-performance technology produces products made with sustainable textiles for automotive interiors, thermal protection, compression, and protective sportswear. bFIVE40 is the first to bring this advanced technology to South Carolina.

The 3D knitting machine boasts 1,200 needles and can speed up production using recycled materials. It has the capability to complete an item in one hour as opposed to one day under traditional working conditions. bFIVE40 and Horry Georgetown Technical College will be partnering together to provide training/certification for the technical skills needed for running and maintaining the machine.

A special thank you to Lt. Governor Pamela Evette for attending the event along with other local representatives. Congratulations to bFIVE40- creating the future in Horry County!
