Mindful Journey Academy is a private, Waldorf-inspired K–8 school located in Conway, South Carolina, operating in partnership with Wondering Woods Farm. Our program blends academic learning with hands-on, nature-based education, giving students daily opportunities to learn outdoors, care for animals, garden, build practical skills, and engage in meaningful, experiential lessons.
We focus on the development of the whole child — head, heart, and hands — through movement, creativity, mindfulness, and strong community relationships. Students participate in farm and land stewardship, environmental education, handwork, music, and seasonal outdoor exploration alongside core academic subjects.
In addition to our school program, we host seasonal community festivals and farm-based events that bring families together while raising funds for student scholarships, helping make our unique educational model accessible to more children.
Mindful Journey Academy serves families seeking an alternative to traditional education by providing a nurturing, small-group environment where children build confidence, resilience, and a deep connection to nature and community.

Mindful Journey Academy is an independent, Waldorf-inspired K–8 school serving families across the Grand Strand and surrounding rural communities. Located at Wondering Woods Farm, the school combines academics with hands-on, nature-based education, farm stewardship, and practical life skills.
MJA supports the local economy through employment of educators, farm staff, and specialty instructors, while also partnering with local farmers, artisans, and small businesses for programs and events. Seasonal community festivals hosted on the farm draw visitors and vendors while raising funds for student scholarships.
The school is developing apprenticeship-style mentorship pathways with local tradespeople and small business owners to help students build real-world skills and workforce readiness. Future plans include expanded learning facilities, additional outdoor classroom spaces, and increased capacity for community programming and workforce development initiatives.
