Business Incentive Programs
South Carolina is a perennial leader in incentives. Though it drops to second this year, its incentive list continues to be generous, rewarding job creation, investments in economic impact zones, doing research, and operating corporate headquarters, among many others. Tennessee ranks third, and as always, this list tilts heavily toward the South.

Small Business Owner’s Guide to CARES Act

The programs and initiatives in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed by Congress are intended to assist business owners with whatever needs they have right now. When implemented, there will be many new resources available for small businesses, as well as certain nonprofits and other employers. This guide provides information about the major programs and initiatives that will soon be available from the Small Business Administration (SBA) to address these needs, as well as some additional tax provisions that are outside the scope of SBA.

Why Your Business Should Join the MBREDC

The main focus of the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation is to attract, grow and retain sustainable businesses that create jobs and benefit Horry County residents. Our organization functions as a comprehensive resource for location and expansion assistance with these objectives in mind:

  • Increase awareness of the Greater Myrtle Beach area as a prime business location
  • Unite key parties in the public and private sectors to accelerate economic growth
  • Diversify the economy by attracting desirable and sustainable industries

We work diligently to ensure our region is positioned for continued growth and individuals and businesses have access to opportunities that help build and strengthen our region. Think of us as your resource for what’s happening in our local economy. We are here to provide insight and assistance for industries looking to move to our area for lower taxes, greater incentives and better quality of life.

An annual MBREDC membership helps us obtain these goals:

  • Expand and diversify the Horry County economy
  • Create well-paying jobs for residents
  • Provide greater opportunities for graduates to stay in our area and find employment
  • Support and grow existing key industries
  • Generate private sector buy-in and support for economic development
  • Provide additional tax revenue for government jurisdictions and the Horry County School System
  • Stimulate private sector growth and investment

Every $200 invested with the MBREDC translates into one new job for Horry County, creating at least $3,000 of additional state and local tax revenue; ultimately reducing the tax burden for you, the existing taxpayer.

These contributions help us entice new companies to the Greater Myrtle Beach area and assist existing local companies with their growth and expansion goals. Jobs created through the MBREDC are sustainable opportunities for our workforce and our graduates, offering higher-paying wages and benefits while bringing millions of dollars in economic impact for Horry County.

We keep our investors updated on all of our networking events, new business openings and expansions, and industry-related content that contributes to the growth of our area. We do this through our email newsletter, social media, press release distribution, website, and our ambassador program.

Networking is key.
Attending our various events, ribbon cuttings, grand openings, after hours, and panel discussions is a great way to meet people and get your name out there. Some businesses solely market themselves through these networking opportunities because word-of-mouth has been their main source of generating new leads and customers.

Always stay connected.
While we are always keeping our investors and partners up-to-date on what’s happening both locally and on a national level, it’s important that you keep us in the loop of news regarding your business, new hires/promotions/acquisitions, if you are hosting an event or participating in a job fair, are hiring, or simply would like to get more involved. This information is crucial for us to better serve you and your business. Any news you share with us, we will distribute to our database and help promote.
